V Is For...

"Vacation"

I need one!

I'm determined to finish the A-Z challenge, you guys.  I know I've been slacking, and that it's no longer April, but I really want to see this through to the end.  I'm not very good with finishing up things I write (see: every novel I've ever started in my life) but I'm really going to try.

I repeat.  I need a vacation.

The weather has certainly been warming up here, and there's something to be said for New York in the spring -- all the buds coming out on the trees and the bars and restaurants overflowing into street seating and onto balconies.  Its a good time.

It's also award season in the theater world which kind of makes me want to die.  Once upon a time I was really excited about award season.  That time has passed.

Plus the warm weather means nothing if it's going to be like this:

And this is pretty accurate to my experience because this isn't far from where I work.  Rain sucks.  Rain in the heat sucks more.  Rain in the heat in New York sucks the most.  Especially when people don't shut their damn umbrellas under the scaffolding.  There are umbrella etiquette rules, people.  Learn them.

I don't want to be here, in the warm rain (although today is rather chilly) in the midst of all these buildings.  I want to be here:

But that is not happening.  At least not any time soon.

The boyfriend and I are going to CT for the weekend -- leaving Friday and coming back Sunday -- so at least I get to escape the city for a few days.

But sadly there are no palm trees in CT...

I sure could use a vacation, too. Not from A-Z but from my day job. Maybe some day soon. It's a pleasure to meet you via the former A-Z Challenge!

Enjoy your weekend in CT. It's too bad you're not going to Washington DC, though. Only because you could have used it for your W post.
