An Addiction, A "Hurricane" and A Call To Arms

My best friend has, for quite some time, been trying to get me to watch "Friday Night Lights."  Now, I'm not much of a sports girl, and I just can't get into football (she's more hard core about it than a lot of guys I know), but she assured me that I would like it.  Mainly because of this:
And that really REALLY tempted me, because Taylor Kitsch is an extreme hottie in the moody/brooding/angsty/long-haired/totally my type kind of way. And I seriously loved him as Gambit, dork that I am.  But still I resisted -- I have so many shows I like already and there just aren't enough hours in the day!

Finally, now that the final season has aired, I gave in.  And I have to say, I am TOTALLY addicted.  I don't know what it is about this show!  Why do I love it so much?
Is it because of the gritty realism?
The dramatic, compelling storylines?
The deeply layered, fascinating characters?
I'm really not sure what it is about this show that has me hooked -- it's a real mystery!  And I highly recommend it.

Moving on to less sexy news:

I've heard about some pretty terrible things that happened to people on the east coast over the weekend, including at least one person who had their entire house demolished -- luckily no one was inside! But from where I was in New York City the storm was...disappointing. I know I shouldn't complain about weather being BETTER than it was supposed to be, but I love a good storm with wind and rain and thunder and lighting. I have to say, I've seen better. And a storm that was supposed to last from Saturday into Monday ended Sunday morning which...really weather channel? Of course they had shut down all mass transportation so that pretty much just screwed everyone in the city regardless. I don't think it's even all back up yet.

I share The Oatmeal's perspective on this one:

The truly bad thing about the weather was that it brought out the cockroaches in larger numbers.  Yesterday I found two -- yes TWO in my apartment!  The first one was dead but Lilah was trying to bat it around so I went into mommy-mode and got her away from it and swept it up with a dustpan and broom.  All on my own!  This is a really big deal people. Perhaps I'm emerging as a stronger woman here -- one who is ready and willing to wage the war on cockroaches.

This girl has the right idea:

The second cockroach, however, was very much alive and scampery and hiding under my purse.  I was not amused.  Lilah was immediately in hot pursuit, and I couldn't get a good angle with my giant can of Raid.  So, I begrudgingly let her carry the damn thing underneath my bed.  I did not see her again for a solid 20 minutes, and I'm not going to be looking for remains any time soon.

I love that last picture!

Hopefully the next time you see that cockroach, it will be well and truly dead :-)

Not just really dead, but really most sincerely dead :)

I LOVE Friday Night Lights, my husband and I watched all 5 seasons in a matter of two months! It's so addicting and we couldn't quite figure out why, maybe because it just felt real? And that Tim Rigging, he had my heart melting even when he was doing some pretty stupid things, I don't know why but I would just think "poor Timmy". And I also loved him as Gambit- my favorite X-Man, though I wish they had brought his romance with Rogue to the big screen...sorry for the long comment!

Haha I was so mad they didn't put him with Rogue in the movies!! I'm a huge X-Men fan and they were always my favorite couple :)

I haven't seen the show, but he sure is pretty! Yuck at the cockroaches!

I'm with you and Oatmeal! But, hey, better to be weak than wreak destruction and havoc. Some people are still without power in NC and many homes washed away.

Roaches? Ugh! Bet seeing one of those crawl under your bed is enough to keep you awake at night.

ZOMG - Taylor Kitsch is some kinda YUMMY! Ahem. That said, I have no idea why you're addicted to Friday Night Lights. I really don't... ;-)

Ok, I was LMAO-ing at the Oatmeal strip you posted - mostly because it's true - the Weather Channel is like opposite day.

Ugh, my cats are roach-hunters, too. Oh, girls... *shakes head*

You had me at the first pic. I will now check out Friday Night Lights. I keep saying I'm going to watch it, but now I really am :)

I have been a FNL fan since episode 1. Partly because of the fantasticly real portraits of Coach and Tammy Taylor, but also because of the yummy factor of Riggins!

I'm so happy to hear that Irene did not decimate NYC, but I did see on the news last night that others were not so lucky. That is what sucks about Mother Nature...her randomness. You never can bank on her doing what "they" (being the experts) think she will do. Its maddening!

I love the Oatmeal! Only too true.

And isn't it interesting how certain actors manage to make a storyline so much more compelling and believable. =)Yeah. I'm totally guilty of that too.

I resisted Friday Night Lights as well. Then I watched a couple of episodes and told my husband he had to watch it also.

Of course I said nothing about my Taylor Kitsch mad-crush *sighs* with longing and gratitude that temptation is out of reach (clears throat).

We were both hooked. Just finished all of the seasons and I still want more. Don't be disappointed but you won't get as much of Taylor in the final season as you would like, but thank goodness he was still there.

HAHHAAHAHAHAHA YES! You are too funny, wayyyy too funny. Never seen FNL, but that little montage was really hysterical.

And that cockaroach story? Awesome. So funny.

Thanks for brightening my night =)
